| Remove transmission from car. |

| Place transmission on an appropriate stand. |

| Place transmission in 2nd gear. Transmission
MUST be in 2nd gear in order to remove rear case section. |
| Pry locking ring of coupling, push pin out of coupling to
release. |
 |
| Remove the two 13mm bolts from the shifter bracket. |
 |
| Pry out locking ring on output shaft nut (if fitted). This ring is
not to be re-used, it will deform on removal. |
 |
| Remove nut from output shaft with a thin walled
30mm socket. If necessary, secure output flange with BMW special tool 23 0
020. |
| Pull off output flange. Use BMW special tool 33 1 150 if
necessary. |
 |
| Remove the 13mm bolts securing rear section of case to mid
section. |
 |
| Pull rear section of case off transmission. If necessary,
use BMW Special tool 23 1 350 with 33 1 301 as a puller. |
| Take note of rollers on selector shaft. Rollers must be
replaced in same position during assembly. |
